Digital sprawl
In the past week or so I have been smothered to pieces by peer pressure to get a MySpace website. MySpace is this proliferate site with zillions of people all getting to know each other. Due to the fact that everyone and their dog (cept me) has a myspace, you can almost be guaranteed to meet up with one or two long lost aquaintances from high school. I have thus far resisted getting a MySpace, not sure how I feel about being that interconnected. The nice thing about my blogspot is that I really feel like only the people who know me, or completely random strangers are gonna see my site. How is that different than the MySpace? It's almost indefinable, but myspace seems to encourage friends of friends to find you and get to know you and some of them even live in the same city as you so there's a chance you may actually meet them some day. Perhaps Blogspot gives me only the illusion of slight anonymity but I like it. My husband now has a MySpace so I fear it won't be long until I cave in and start one up. Ah well, guess it's time to build my home in the digital sprawl of internet suburbia.
